Hot Links –  (May be known as Hot Spots, Hyperlink, Rollovers, Triggers, Synchronized Web Links, Mouse-over, Text Link, TV Crossover Links. Associated with Virtual Channels.) - (1) The area or areas of a document, video, picture, audio file etc. that are designated by the author to be "active areas". These are often in the form of icons or text links. When used in conjunction with television, upon activation by the viewer, these will retrieve and display more data, such as advertisements. This data could be in the form of web pages and/or Walled Gardens content, etc. (2) A hotspot is a Wi-Fi access point or area. See the Interactive Television Institute.
