Intercast - (Intel Intercast) - Intercast was an interactive TV software platform for the PC and compatible set-top boxes. It was supported by 12 national cable and broadcast networks, including NBC, CNN, MTV, QVC, Lifetime, The Weather Channel and HGTV. Intercast let a broadcasted television program add interactive content by broadcasting digital, HTML-based content (files) along with the analog video signal. VBI data is inserted into the signal through a commercial insertion device (such as those from Norpak and others). It combined Intel's hardware with Microsoft's WebTV for Windows platform on Microsoft's Windows 98 & 2000.  It delivered interactive content in through the Vertical Blanking Interval of the television signal. Intercast is no longer being produced by Intel.
