Network Computer – (NC) - (a.k.a. Net PC, Managed PC) - These were expected to be big but as the price of computers dropped so much, the money saved getting these bare-bones computers was largely negated. These computers are cheaper, simpler and less expensive than standard computers.  Network computers (NCs) take/took programs directly from the Internet, Intranets and other networks versus storing it on the computer's hard drive. Net-PCs (NCs) generally have no floppy drive and have limited ability to be upgraded.  All configuration, management, and updating is done by a server(s) on the network. Oracle was perticularly interested in these.
