Operating
System (OS) - Operating systems are computerized device's (such as
a set-top box) software/middleware
that control the computer's operations.
MS-DOS and Windows XP are operating systems. Windows
3.x
however is only an operating environment, as it requires MS-DOS to
operate. In set
top boxes it's more associated with middleware.
