Personal Java - (P-Java) - Personal Java is (was) a Java application environment developed by Sun Microsystems specifically for consumer appliances. It has been superseded by other technologies but still is in use.

Personal Java was originally designed to be used with telephones, TVs, set-top boxes, game consoles, network computers, smart telephones and various other smart consumer appliances. Personal Java is an application environment specifically designed for building network-connectable consumer devices. It's comprised of the Java Virtual Machine™ (JVM) and a subset of the Java Application Programming Interface (API), including core and optional APIs and class libraries.  Also see J2ME.
