Video Server - A host
(computer or other computerized system) capable of
storing large quantities of video related content and serving it
(sending it) upon request over a network to receiving computers, set-tops,
TVs, etc.
Video servers are an essential part of any
system that offers video
on demand. Compared to the standard server in
the networking industry (which includes the Internet,) video servers
must be able handle a lot more data as the
files typically are larger and must be continuously delivered.
